Anthrax is an acute, infectious disease, caused by bacterium called Bacillus anthracis. Infection generally occurs when persons come in contact with anthrax-infected animals, or anthrax contaminated animal products.
Recently Anthrax received widespread attention because of its use as a biological warfare agent by both belligerent nation states and terrorists, here in the United States and overseas.
