OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour Safety Training

From general industry to construction and agriculture, workers and supervisors face many health and safety hazards on the job. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Outreach Training Program is a voluntary program designed to educate workers about their rights, workplace safety and health, and workplace hazards.

The Outreach Training Program comprises two components - OSHA 10-hour training and OSHA 30-hour training. The courses are applicable to both general and construction industries. OSHA 10 certification is intended primarily for workers, while OSHA 30 certification is designed to meet the needs of field supervisors, site managers, foremen and forewomen, and safety directors.

While OSHA does not require workers to participate in the Outreach Training Program, some states and municipalities do require the training. For example, municipalities including Philadelphia and New York City require workers in the construction industry to complete the OSHA 10- and 30-hour courses. Construction workers and certain entertainment industry workers in Nevada must complete an OSHA 10-hour training course at least every five years. Massachusetts requires OSHA 10-hour general industry training from all workers performing public sector contract work.

Even if you work in a state without mandatory training requirements, OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour online training has benefits for employers and employees alike. Both training courses address job hazard recognition, as well as best practices to avoid, control, and prevent workplace hazards. They establish a solid foundation of standards training, and many companies consider OSHA 10-hour and OSHA 30-hour training a core element of their safety program.

In emergency situations, comprehensive training and education saves lives. Compliance Training Online streamlines the training process through OSHA-authorized online training in construction and general industry certification. Upon successful course completion, participants will receive their 10- or 30-hour course card. To learn more about the benefits of OSHA 10 and 30 online training, contact Compliance Training Online.
