Scissor lift training also details safe use of scissor lifts, such as maintenance, inspections, stabilization, positioning, and other safety precautions.
A scissor lift is a type of supported scaffold that is used to elevate workers in many different work environments, including construction, manufacturing, retail, and entertainment. Scissor lifts can be dangerous if used improperly, and scissor lift safety is critical in preventing injuries and fatalities associated with these mobile work platforms.
This course is in partnership with Hard Hat Training. Hard Hat Training and Compliance Training Online™ are divisions of the 360training™.
This course is for:
This scissor lift training is designed for anyone who works with, on, or near scaffolds, including scissor lifts. This safety training may help prevent serious injury in the workplace and save lives.
This online certification course meets the requirements set forth by OSHA for scissor lift certification training.
Case Study: In March 2018, an employee in Concord, California, was sanding drywall while elevated on a scissor lift. The employee fell approximately 6 feet from the scissor lift to a concrete surface and was killed. The scissor lift was missing a toprail.
Key Takeaway: Even falls from a seemingly short distance can be fatal. Guardrails are the primary means of fall prevention on a scissor lift and are required to be in place and operational. The time it takes to make sure your worksite is safe is time well spent.

Employers are responsible for training new personnel before assigning them to tasks that may expose them to hazards such as working with or near scissor lifts and other mobile scaffolds.
To ensure compliance with OSHA scissor lift certification requirements, safety training must be conducted where changes at a worksite present new hazards, as well as equipment changes and observed inadequacies in an affected employee's work involving scaffolds indicates the need for additional training. This online scissor lift certification course meets these training requirements.
